Two people with critical injuries have been taken to hospital following a serious crash on Tokanui-Gorge Road highway at its intersection with Fleming Road.

The two vehicle crash involved a ute and a motorcycle.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 1.15pm.

The road has now reopened.
