The Minister of Conservation invites expressions of interest from persons wishing to be considered for appointment to the Guardians of Lake Manapouri, Monowai & Te Anau.
The Guardians of Lake Manapouri, Monowai & Te Anau was established in 1897 and the core function of the Guardians is to report to and advise the Minister of Conservation on all matters relating to the
Lake Manapouri, Monowai & Te Anau Conservation Act 1987 Part IIb 6X.
Persons interested in becoming a Lake Guardian should be knowledgeable or have an interest in the lakes natural habitats and be familiar with the social and legislative issues associated with the management of these significant southern lakes.
An appointment to the Guardians is usually for a five-year term. The Guardians meet several times a year in Te Anau and meeting fees and travel expenses are payable.
