Gore's new $7.7 million James Cumming Community Centre and Library is set to be officially opened by the Minister for Regional Development, the Hon Kiri Allan, at 1pm tomorrow (24 Mar).

The government was a major funder of the Ardwick Street project, contributing $3 million from its Shovel Ready scheme, along with Mataura Valley Milk who donated $958,000.

The town's original library was closed in 2019 after black mould and asbestos was found.

It has since occupied both the former James Cumming Wing and the New Life Church.

The library is expected to open for business on Monday (27 Mar).
