The masterplan for Milford Sound Piopiotahi, the Milford corridor and the region surrounding it will be publicly presented at 11am today (28 July) in Te Anau.

This important document, developed by Milford Opportunities - a consortium of iwi, district councils (SDC, QLDC), government departments (NZTA, MBIE) and two tourism operators, is toted as being ambitious and innovative, but also promises to recommend significant changes to the area in order to offer a unique and authentic Milford experience.

Milford Sound visitors and the operators who service them are expected to be watching this announcement with considerable interest.

A final decision on the implementation of any proposed changes will however rest with the government.
