A homicide investigation is now underway following the death of an Invercargill baby.

The baby, with critical injuries, was taken to Invercargill Hospital on Saturday morning (22 January).

They were subsequently transferred to Starship Hospital, but died yesterday (26 January).

Police are continuing to speak with residents of an Elizabeth Street, Invercargill property.

They advise no one else is currently being sought.
