Celebrating Southland Schools

Respecting, Enduring, Adventurous, Compassionate, Happy and Dream big.
We may be a small rural school, but we have a huge heart and are all very curious!
Our amazing students hosted a mini production and Auckland Pop Up Museum around the events of Captain Cook's Endeavor arriving at Mercury Bay and 3rd Lieutenant John Gore shooting a tangata whenua called Otrinu during a trade in 1769.
They learnt about the different perspectives of an important event in New Zealand history.
Our wonderful students hosted a fundraising day of love for a mum that was in a critical condition after a very scary heart event.
Che's hospital room was filled with crafts that demonstrated community love.
Somehow our amazing super mum is back in Hedgehope and full of a zest for life.
Pet Day
Pet Day gave us a chance to bring the whole community and many animals together.
Lunch was about connecting with friends and neighbours.
Riverton Historical Day Out
This year our overarching Inquiry theme has been citizenship.
During Term 4 we are investigating why settlers came and continue to come to Southland.
We are incredibly lucky to live in such a beautiful and naturally resourced environment!
