Hedgehope School is a full rural primary school with a passion to inspire students from Years 1-8.

We are located in Central Southland on the Winton-Hedgehope Highway, a 20-minute drive from Mataura, Winton or Invercargill.

Our beautiful rural setting is located not far from the Community Hall, Rural Fire Brigade and Golf Course.

We have three dynamic teachers and classrooms, a library, vast grounds and a school garden with shade house.

We offer quality modern teaching and learning programmes while maintaining strong traditional and community values.

Our school vision of ‘Reaching for Greatness’ is guided by our values of Respectful, Enduring, Adventurous, Compassionate and Happy.

Our goal is to provide the children of Hedgehope School with the values and life skills necessary to lead full and rewarding lives through high quality learning opportunities, effective teaching and community support.

We offer quality modern teaching and learning practice to engage and excite our inquisitive learners. 

Our students are curious and innovative.

They engage with real life community opportunities and learning challenges.

Also they enjoy a range of play areas including an adventure playground, sandpit, court area, rugby field and a landscaped ‘Treemendous’ area which has a fort, ropes, swings and picnic tables nestled amongst the trees and plantings.
