Snow and ice warnings are currently in affect across Southland.

State highway 93, Clinton to Mataura is closed due to snow and ice. This highway will remain closed to at least 10am.

Milford Road has reopened. It is advised to drive carefully due to ice and grit.

Milford Road as at 9.52am this morning.

And due to wintery conditions caution is advised on State highway 6 Centre Bush to Kingston, State highway 94 Gore to Lumsden and Mossburn to Te Anau.

Caution is also advised on State highway 95 Manapouri to Te Anau, State highway 96 Winton to Ohai and the entire State highway 97 Mossburn to Lowther (Five Rivers).
