General Manager, Te Anau Club

Te Anau Club currently has an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in customer service and hospitality to join the team as General Manager, overseeing day-to-day operations.


With a strong 50+ year history, the Club is renowned for providing Southern hospitality to members and guests, ensuring an enjoyable experience, in a relaxing and welcoming environment. 


The successful candidate will represent the Club across all areas of our community, so we’re looking for a real ‘people’ person, with a broad range of management skills and a passion for the hospitality industry.


The Role 


Reporting to the Committee Chair, the duties of the General Manager will include:


• Overseeing day-to-day financial management, including funding and other revenue streams 

• Leading and managing the team, ensuring good employment practices

• Member management – promoting new membership and looking after our existing and new members by creating an outstanding member experience and maintaining the membership database

• Managing the Club facilities and organising volunteers, contractors, marketing, communications and events

• Health and safety management

• Providing support to the Executive Committee and executing resolutions and plans.


Skills and Attributes


We’re after someone who has:

• A bachelor’s degree in business administration, hospitality management, or similar, or equivalent appropriate experience

• Strong computer skills and is technologically savvy

• Previous experience across a range of management functions, including finance, operations, marketing, HR, H&S and public relations

• Experience managing food and beverage operations, including special events

• Exceptional time management and organisational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritise

• Strong communication skills – both verbal and written

• The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with the TC committee, members, the public, and the local community

• An enthusiastic ‘can-do’ attitude, with the ability to use their initiative and be flexible.
