Two people have been critically injured in a two-car collision north of Winton last night following a serious crash.
They have been airlifted to hospital, while a further two people with minor to moderate injuries have been transported by ambulance.
The collision happened about 7.40pm at the intersection of State Highway 6, the Dipton-Winton Highway, and Campbell Road.
Detours are in place.
Northbound traffic turn left on to SH96, turn right on to Riverside Road, turn right on to Hundred Line Road East, then left back on to SH6. Reverse for southbound traffic.
This detour is suitable for heavy vehicles up to 50 tonnes. However the detour is not suitable for HPMV and will need to use an alternative route.
SH6 is likely to remain closed until mid-afternoon today (17 Oct) while the accident scene is investigated.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
