Police have located a body in the Oreti River, which they believe to be that of a missing 81-year-old Invercargill man.

While formal identification is yet to be completed, Police said the family of the missing person have been notified.

An 81-year-old man went missing in the Fosbender Park area, Sandy Point, prompting a search and rescue operation in the area involving Police and Land Search and Rescue.
