A ticketing system is being introduced for the opening this weekend of Invercargill's new temporary museum and art gallery He Waka Tuia.
Co-manager David Dudfield said Level Two restrictions had proven an extra challenge for the He Waka Tuia Art + Museum team ahead of the space finally opening to the public at 12pm on Saturday (September 12).
“We’ve organised a ticketing system that will keep both our visitors and our staff safe,” he said

The online system, accessible through the He Waka Tuia website, allows people to book themselves in to a number of different time slots. Groups of 50 people will be able to book into each 45-minute interval.
Co-manager Gemma Baldock said having to put a ticketing system in place would actually work out quite well.
“He Waka Tuia isn’t a huge space. Having smaller groups of people coming through means everyone will be able to really enjoy their experience, as well as keeping themselves and our staff safe.”
Those not keen or able to go online will still be able to visit, although they may have to wait in line at the space, at 42 Kelvin Street.
“We know that everyone understands that this is just the way we have to do things now, and we’re asking everyone to be patient and kind,” Gemma said.
