Stats NZ continues to chase those who have not completed their 2023 Census forms.
Forms were to have been completed for everyone in New Zealand on the night of 7th March 2023.
While more than 85% of people have now completed and returned their physical or online forms, as at 27th April, 15% were still yet to do so according to Simon Mason, Deputy Government Statistician and Deputy Chief Executive Census and Collections Operations.
“We will continue to remind people to do the census and how to get help to complete forms through advertising, on social and other media, at events and via various community and other groups,” said Mason.
Census collectors will cease their duties on 4th April in most areas, except for those areas most affected by Cyclone Gabrielle (where they will end on 1st June).
Stats NZ's 0800 236 787 helpline, web and various support events will however continue until 4th June.
Stats NZ also warns they will now start issuing Final Notices to those who have not completed their forms. They will also run the risk of a $2000 fine under the Data and Statistics Act 2022.
