MetService has issued a severe weather warning for coastal Otago, while a heavy rain watch has been issued for Inland Clutha and Southland including Fiordland.

Inland Clutha and Southland can expect periods of heavy rain, and amounts may approach warning criteria and possibly exceed them about the western ranges of Southland.

Fiordland can expect southeast winds which may approach severe gale in exposed places.
