The Southland District Council (SDC) has now lifted its district-wide water restrictions, effective immediately.
SDC Water operations manager Joe Findley said with water levels coming back up, he now no longer has concerns for areas like Mossburn, Riverton or Ohai Nightcaps.
Findley said Mossburn's second bore, which prompted an emergency call earlier this month (3 April) to limit demand, had now also restarted.
However he said SDC would continue to monitor the Edendale water source.
"Edendale is a bit deeper and Fonterra pull out of the same aquifer so it will probably take a lot longer to respond and to recharge," Findley said.
The lifting of the SDC water restrictions follows last Thursday's announcement by both Gore District Council and Invercargill City Council lifting their respective water bans on sprinkler use and unattended hosing.
Southland's restricted fire season also ended last Thursday (21 April) after the province had received a sustained period of rain.
