Bill Moran is the new Heamana/Chair of Community Trust South (CTS) following the resignation of the trust's current chair Mata Cherrington.
Based in Queenstown, Moran has served as Heamana Tuarua/Deputy Chair since November 2020 and is a former Deputy Secretary at the Treasury and has extensive governance experience including as Chair of both Sport NZ and High-Performance Sport NZ. He has been a CTS Trustee since June 2016.
Cherrington will now take up a position as Interim Regional Director for Te Aka Whai Ora the Māori Health Authority.
“It has been an honour to serve my community, first as a Trustee and as the Trust’s Chair for the last year. The last 7 years as a Trustee has given me the opportunity to witness the amazing work that our communities in Murihiku are carrying out every day. It has been a delight to support community led initiatives and promoting the Trust’s mahi,” she said.
Kirsty Pickett, who was appointed as a Trustee in September 2020, has been confirmed as the Heamana Tuarua /Deputy Chair.
She is a company director and award-winning journalist, based in Te Anau.
The positions of Heamana and Heamana Tuarua are elected by the Trustees on a two-yearly basis.
