The 52-year-old man charged with the murder of a woman in Te Anau last month appeared in the High Court at Invercargill this morning, via audio-visual link.
He has been remanded in custody until July 20 when he is expected to enter a plea.
Justice Cameron Mander lifted the interim name suppression this morning, and the man can now be named as Rodney Stuart Fallowfield, a forklift operator, of Balclutha.
Shirley Alaina Reedy, 52, of Balclutha was found dead on Friday, May 15, at the Explorer Motel and Apartments in Cleddau Street, Te Anau.
Police said at the time they had received information about 6.35 pm that evening to suggest a person had died in the area, and they made inquires before locating a body at the motel later that evening. Detective Sergeant Mark McCloy said the victim and the man they arrested had been visitors to Te Anau and were known to one another.
