A 31-year-old man has been apprehended in Winton, driving while over five times the legal breath alcohol limit.
A member of the public reported concerns to the Police about the man’s manner of driving in Winton this morning, which included near misses with oncoming traffic.
When stopped by Police and breath tested, he was found to have a reading of 1101 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.
He will appear in the Invercargill District Court for this offence.
Police say they would like this to serve as a reminder to the public that all drivers should expect to be stopped by Police at any time.
They also remind the public that alcohol impairment is one of the four biggest contributors to death and serious injury on our roads, and it is just not worth the risk.
Police say they would like to thank the member of the public who reported the man’s driving.
