Invercargill’s first drive-through COVID-19 vaccination clinic is happening on Saturday and promises a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.
Awarua Whānau Services, in partnership with the Southern COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout Team, has organised the drive-through vaccination clinic at Stadium Southland from 10am to 5pm. People can walk in if they don’t have a car.
Awarua Whānau general manager Amy de Vries says with summer just around the corner people will be spending time with friends and whānau.
“It is so important to support the people you love to be vaccinated. We’d love to see whānau come along on Saturday, enjoy the atmosphere and get their two shots for summer.”
Southern DHB COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout Programme Lead Karl Metzler says the drive-through clinic makes the vaccination more accessible for everyone. He says there will be a great family atmosphere at the clinic, which is on the Santa parade route.
“When you’re out with your family to see the parade it’s a perfect opportunity to pop in and get your vaccination.”
People needing their first dose, or those due for their second, are encouraged to attend. Anyone with questions is welcome to talk to clinical staff on the day.
