An Invercargill store was ram raided this morning (16 July 2023).
Police said they were called the Pomona Street store at around 4.35am, after a vehicle was used to gain entry.
An unknown number of offenders entered the store before fleeing the scene in the vehicle.
Police said they are investigating a burglary with inquiries ongoing to ascertain what was taken and to identify those involved.
Invercargill MP Penny Simmonds said the Pomona Street ram raid was yet another example of the increasing crime problems in the city.
“I send my support to the owners of this shop and hope that the individuals involved can be apprehended as soon as possible."
“Just because these crimes continue to happen does not make them right."
"We need to get tough on criminals, or this offending is just going to continue to grow," Simmonds said.
“We do not need these types of attacks in our city."
