Invercargill's Bupa Ascot has been closed to all visitors following a resident testing positive for COVID-19 on 27 March.
In a letter to families, the facility advised that the rest home resident was doing well and that there was no evidence of widespread infection.
However all residents had been placed in isolation as a precaution.
Restrictions had also been placed on both communal activities and, staff and resident movements around the facility.
The rest home said strict infection prevention and control measures were being implemented, and they were working closely with both Public Health and the Southern DHB.
