"We think he's some sort of gentleman-type, with his friendliness and confidence to roam wherever he pleases," says Dominique.
Despite occasional run-ins with local businesses, who often find themselves playing host to the curious cat, Ginge is mostly welcomed with open arms.
Many establishments have embraced his presence, even considering featuring him in their advertising campaigns to capitalize on his popularity.
"We've joined with Central Archives to give businesses the 'Ging tick of approval' if Ginge visits them," says Dominique's father Gene.
Ginge's adventures have not gone unnoticed, with locals and visitors alike following his escapades on social media.
The furry feline now has his very own Facebook page, "Ginge D Tiana Cat," with over 300 fans engaged in his latest exploits.
Dominique's friends have even suggested Ginge could be immortalizing with a statue in Te Anau one day.
As Ginge continues to roam the streets of Te Anau, his legacy grows, leaving an indelible mark on the community.
Whether he's exploring local shops or mingling with schoolchildren, Ginge's presence brings joy and laughter to all who encounter him, solidifying his status as Te Anau's most famous feline.
