One person has died in a single car crash on North Makarewa Grove Bush Road, near the intersection with Tussock Creek Road, early this morning (12 Feb).

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 1am.

However the sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.

Police advise the Serious Crash Unit has attended and the circumstances of the crash are under investigation.

This weekend also saw a fatal car crash near Mataura. A second person from that accident was airlifted to hospital.
