Community emergency hubs have been set up at the Croydon Lodge, Gore, and the Mataura Community Centre.

Gore District Council and Emergency management Southland advise that anyone who feels unsafe are welcome to use these facilities.

The Gore district remains in a state of emergency following significant surface flooding.

The GDC has asked for volunteers to assist with sandbagging.

If anyone is willing and able to help us out, please head to the GDC yard on Miro Street.

GDC also advise their stormwater network flood gates have been closed due to the rising Mataura River and stop the river backing up into the network.

However they advise this action will also mean stormwater can’t drain into the river, and will continue to cause surface flooding.
