Gore District Council (GDC) is calling for volunteers to help with sandbagging, following their declaration of a State of Emergency earlier today (21 Sep).

They advise their team can not keep up with the huge number of requests we are getting for sandbags in Gore and Mataura.

If anyone is willing and able to help us out, please head to the GDC yard on Miro Street.

The yard is also now open for those to come and pick up sandbags from our yard.

Significant surface flooding has also closed SH96 Glencoe highway from the intersection of SH1 south of Mataura, to Waimumu Road.

No detour is available.

• Terry Road, between Charlton Road to McKinnels Hill
• Ardwick Street, between Devon and Preston streets
• Lyne Street, near Farmlands
• Parts of Frank street (details to come)
• Parts of Kakapo street (details to come)
