CLASS ACTION: Hauroko School

Kia ora and welcome to Hauroko Valley Primary School in class action where we have been…

innovators, artists, sign language experts, builders, orators, carpenters, runners, thinkers and learners!

Haere mai - we extend a warm welcome to Noah, Kaleb, Alex, Angela & Daniel and their families who have joined our Hauroko Valley School whanau.

Thanks for joining us for Hauroko Valley Primary School's annual fundraiser - The Blackmount Trail Ride! It really is a must do; what better way to spend a Saturday than soaking up the Takitimu Mountains, tackling trails crossing terrain that provide challenge, fun and entertainment!

Enjoying a scrumptious lunch thanks to local produce and catching up with mates!

Your support for Hauroko Valley Primary School makes a BIG difference to our students.

Please save the date for next year - Saturday 12th March 2022.

Our overarching theme for 2021 is Diversity and we are exploring this through connections to our people and place.

Each of our whanau brings a unique flavour to our school including a variety of identities, culture and language.

Our families have created fence panels so we can form a narrative around each, which will form part of our school's history.

HVP students continue to learn their personal and school mihi, which is connected to the establishment of Hauroko Valley Primary School Houses.

We are proud of this new initiative which sees us supporting each other showing whanaungatanga/friendship and manaakitanga/support while working in whanau groups in our houses.

Introducing HVPs Houses - Clifden, Orawia, Takitimu and Waiau!

As a school we held an end of Term Anzac Service to commemorate Anzac.

Several HVP students attended services at Orawia and Tuatapere on Anzac Day to honour those servicemen, servicewomen and animals that served.

We united to reflect on the sacrifices that were made and to remember the fallen.

It was lovely to meet together again as a community after a quieter Anzac Day in 2020.

This Term we are preparing for Cross Country with daily runs on our school field.

We look forward to our inter-school cross country with Thornbury Primary School and Waiau Area School.

These gatherings strengthen connections and we can’t wait to see our families and friends from throughout Western Southland.

With the support of our families and friends from throughout Western Southland, Southland (and sometimes even from further afar) we are able to provide our tamariki with a wide range of experiences including; athletics, cross country, touch, rippa rugby, hockey, guitar, technology, discovery, young farmers, NYLD, GRIP leadership, agrikids, HVP clubs.

These numerous partnerships we have, positively impact on our students' learning and for that we are extremely grateful - thank you!

Our tamariki are zooming in learning making the most of opportunities to be confident, innovative and connected learners.

Hauroko Valley Primary School’s motto of “Always our best/Tonu to tatou pai” rings true as each learner is active in working to progress and achieve in their personal learning journeys.

If you would like to see our learners in action, please check us out on Facebook or through our website - www.haurokovalley.school.nz

Until next time. Nga mihi nui, Julia Waikato, Principal/Tumuaki
