Fiordland skies have this week been abuzz with the sights and sounds of fast moving military aircraft.
Three Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) aircraft, along with sixteen personnel flew in to Te Anau Airport Manapouri from RNZAF Base Ohakea on Tuesday (29 March).
The aircraft, two Beechcraft King Air 350s from 42 Squadron and one T6-C Texan II, are here to conduct exercises in Fiordland's rugged environment.
The Beechcraft King Air 350 are used by the RNZAF to conduct multi-engine Pilot conversion, Air Warfare Officer training, VIP and domestic tasks within NZ, and humanitarian aid and disaster relief.
An NZDF spokesperson said "two of the pilots had recently completed their multi-engine conversion training so this activity is intended to consolidate their training and apply it in a deployed environment."

"This will broaden their experience operating the aircraft in an unfamiliar location, and expose them to a variety of flying conditions."
The RNZAF personnel associated with this exercise consist of pilots, security personnel, and one Air Warfare Officer, the spokesperson said.
The group also visited Fiordland College on Tuesday with NZDF recruiters to talk about military careers.
