There is a buzz around town that filming for the Lord of the Rings TV series is underway in Fiordland.
The multi million dollar budget series was announced by Amazon last year and, while the company’s PR has declined to comment on the activity, they have confirmed that filming of the Lord of the Rings series will be taking place in various locations throughout New Zealand.

Earlier this week trucks and support services and crew began arriving at the Te Anau-Manapouri airport, where a contingent of security staff have been keeping prying eyes away from the top secret project.
A number of locals have been contracted for driving jobs and at least one Te Anau hotel has cast and crew members staying during the filming.
