Bookmark Friday December 4 for Winton’s new look Christmas Twilight Night event.
Winton Business Association spokeswoman Maria Scammell said the committee decided, after member feedback, to change the format of its long-running Open Day and host an evening event.
“This year with Covid, we thought we would change it up a bit . . . There will still be a street parade, the street will be blocked off, there will be music and food in the oval, the shops will be open,” she said.

Other highlights include woodchopping events, a sausage eating competition, kids’ dress ups, choirs, a pipe band, and other activities to ring in the Christmas festive spirit.
The Winton Open Day has been a staple on the region’s calendar for more than two decades and was previously held on a Sunday in November, from 10am to 4pm.
Winton Business Association chairperson Daphne Fairbairn said this year had been a difficult year for local businesses.
In recognition of the struggle many had faced, the format had been changed.

“The Oval and band rotunda will house entertainment, stalls and various food options.
“The evening will be similar to the open day with loads of fun things and businesses welcoming locals and visitors to Winton,” Mrs Fairbairn said.
The association is keen for all the town’s businesses and schools to get involved and support the new format by putting floats in the parade.
Winton Area Promotions would support the event and look after stall holders this year. Stall fees this year will be $10 non-profit, $20 commercial.
The Winton Christmas Twilight Night is on on Friday, December 4, from 5pm to 8.30pm.
