Today we are talking to local business Petsmart.nz, owner Graeme Lewis who bought the business 13 years ago and rebranded it Petsmart.nz.
“The pet store has been in Spey Street for about 28 years now and started its life as Four Paws, so we have a long history with selling Pet Food and offering nutritional advise”
About 8 years ago they out grew their small store “we knew we needed to provide our customers with a more professional shopping environment that matched the quality of the products and service we were providing, so we moved into our current location on the corner of Deveron & Spey Streets”.
This allowed them to expand their range and offer even more great products and deals.
The new professional looking store caught the attention of Independent pet group, Indepet and they asked Petsmart.nz to become a member.

“Joining Indepet has been great. Indepet members are all Independently local owned pet stores like ourselves but we can come together to talk to our suppliers about better products and pricing and being able to offer regular deals and everyday low pricing for our customers”
“We are proud to be a locally owned business supporting the local community and we are still competitive with the overseas owned corporate stores and still provide the best in local knowledge and service”
At Petsmart.nz we specialise in nutrition for pet and like us, pets today are suffering more and more from allergies and sensitivities.
These can manifest themselves in the form of itchy or dry skin, itchy feet, ear infections, soft or sloppy stool, or a host of other problems.
Dogs and cats generally suffer allergies as a result of:
Food allergies affect both dogs and, less so cats, and generally account for approximately 20% of the itching and scratching in dogs today.
Food allergies can develop over time making it all the more important to be aware of these symptoms. They can show up as early as 5 months.
Studies have found that some foods are more likely to cause food allergies than others.
Selecting novel proteins and limiting the number of ingredients the pet is exposed to, is the first line of defense against allergies and food intolerances.
So, call in and talk to Graeme and the team, “Your locally owned pet food specialist”
