Invercargill’s Splash Palace leisure pool will temporarily close from March 3 to March 24 for essential maintenance.
Aquatic Services Manager Stephen Cook said the closure was to replace the foam tile flooring.
“While we know the leisure pool will be missed during its temporary closure, the retiling is critical to future-proof the facility for our young swimmers and other pool users,” Cook said.
The maintenance process involves draining the pool, removing the old tiles, retiling, and allowing the new tiles to dry. This work is largely covered under the warranty for the existing tiles.
Cook said that the work would only affect the leisure pool and would be carried out as quickly as possible to minimize disruption.
The rest of the facility will remain open to the public.
“We really appreciate everybody’s patience as we work to bring the leisure pool back to life and look forward to welcoming swimmers back to enjoy the water and waves at the end of March,” he said.
