The Waimea Plains Vintage Tractor & Machinery Club has restored an 1894 heavy log wagon that had languished on a farm at Riversdale for 50 years.
With assistance from the Southland Regional Heritage Fund, the club enlisted Lochiel wheelwright and coachbuilder Peter Robson to restore the trailer and on Friday 23rd July it took its first spin - up the main street of Winton, behind Owen Saunders' steam traction engine.
Club member Brian Horrell talks about the wagon in a video here.
