More than 150 Model A Fords lined the perimetre of Te Anau's Lions Park today as part of a week-long rally celebrating the vintage car.
Model A Ford aficionados from as far as Australia and the United States have landed in Fiordland this week as part of the 14th National Model A Rally, which is being headquartered in Te Anau.
Yesterday (April 16) the cars got the chance to stretch their legs on a rally to Walter Peak, and tomorrow car owners will be taking them on a tour to the South Arm of Lake Manapouri or Western Southland.
For today though, owners got to show off their prized possessions to the public in Te Anau. In addition to the line-up, the cars went through a makeshift gymkhana of sorts, such as a ring toss from the seat of a car.
Anita Inwood, of Christchuch, joked that the car obstacle course could cause a lot of riffs in a marriage.
She and her husband, Greg, brought out their 1931 Model A, which they said was salvaged from a fire in a commercial building and purchased from a family that had owned it since 1948.
Mr Inwood said he restored it in his garage around five years ago, and had become a fan ever since.

Other attendees, like Wes Hartley and Beverly Biggs of Western Australia, got dressed up for the occasion in handmade period costumes.
The couple had attended numerous rallies for the cars in Australia and New Zealand, and loved the camaraderie. Mr Hartley said fans of the Model A came from different professional backgrounds, but "there's a bond about the cars".
Rally director John Tremaine said the event had received good feedback and the ideal weather for the open day had been "brilliant".
He said he was so pleased with the support the event had received.
