The Orawia Feldwick Pukemaori Community Centre was the scene of a dramatic vehicle accident late on Wednesday night (22 May).
Fire and Emergency NZ were alerted at 10.57pm and responded with brigades from Tuatapere and Otautau.
St Johns also responded with one ambulance but were stood down en-route to the scene.
Police said the sole occupant of the vehicle received moderate injuries and was transported to Southland Hospital.
They have since been discharged.
Police are making inquiries into the circumstances of the crash.
Local Southland District (SDC) Councilor Derek Chamberlain said the centre was the main hall for the area and was used by community groups three or four times a week.
A SDC spokesperson said staff had assessed the damage to the council owned hall on Thursday and would be contacting insurers.
A decision about the next steps for the hall will be made once all the information had been gathered, they said.
