Two people have been airlifted to Southland Hospital, one in a serious condition and one in a moderate condition, following a jet boating accident on the Oreti River at Mavora this afternoon (14 Sept).

Emergency services were called at 4.17pm, with two rescue helicopters subsequently dispatched to the scene.

Police said four people were believed to have been in the boat at the time of the crash, one suffering a leg injury, while another sustained a minor head injury.

A Hato Hone St Johns spokesperson said two people were transported by air to Southland Hospital at 6pm this evening.
