State Highway 6 is closed at the intersection of Gap Road East and SH6, following a serious three-vehicle crash.

Police were called about 1.25pm and emergency services are currently at the scene. 

Initial reports suggest there have been injuries.

Detours in place (for light and 50 Max) as below:

Northbound detour:

Thomsons Crossing/Norman Road/SH96-Winton Hedgehope highway

Southbound detour:

Eglinton Street-Price Road/Winton Substation Road/Lochiel Bridge Road

Waka Kotahi NZ Transpaort Agency advise that these detours are likely to remain in place until mid-tomorrow morning.
