Three people are in serious to critical conditions are a crash, involving a single vehicle, around midnight (29 Dec) near the intersection of William Stephens Road and SH95, the Te Anau Manapouri road.

Hato Hone St John were notified of the motor vehicle incident at midnight.

Six ambulances, two helicopters, one rapid response unit, one first response unit, and one operations manager responded.

Three patients were transported, all in critical to serious conditions, to both Invercargill and Dunedin Hospitals by helicopter and ambulance.

The road was closed for a time but has now reopened.
