State Highway One (The Bluff Highway) reopened on Sunday afternoon (December 6) following a fatal crash last night near the Waimatua Creek Bridge on Saturday. 

Emergency services were alerted about 10:25pm of a car in ditch on SH1, Woodend, Invercargill.

One person died at the scene.

The road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit examined the scene on Sunday morning.

Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
