UPDATED: SH1 has now reopened (6.41pm, 16 April).

Milk has spilt from a tanker near Nicholson Road, Brydone, just north of Edendale, closing State Highway 1 this afternoon (16 April).

Emergency services are in attendance and Police expect the cleanup to take some time.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
