UPDATE: This meeting was postponed due to a family bereavement. A new date has yet to be advised.
Invercargill city councillors will be briefed tomorrow on the independent report that evaluates the standard of governance at the ICC.
In August, the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) requested an independent evaluation to assess the standard of governance at council following reports of “significant conflict” among elected representatives and the chief executive in the media.
The DIA also requested a summary of the key issues and a “clear plan” demonstrating how the council plans to address the issues, including a framework for measuring success to be presented within the report.

Independent evaluator Richard Thompson was appointed to conduct the evaluation. With the help of the council’s independent governance advisor Bruce Robertson, he has spent the past few months gathering information at the ICC to prepare the report for councillors and the DIA.
Mr Thompson and Mr Robertson will provide a briefing of the report tomorrow (Friday, October 30) at 9am at an extraordinary meeting of the Invercargill City Council.
Advisor Jane Parfitt and communications consultant Amanda Healy will also attend the meeting.
The meeting will be held in public excluded session.
