Fire safety investigators are investigating the cause of a suspicious house fire at Hokonui Drive in Gore just before 3am today.
A Fire and Emergency Communications spokesman said the Hokonui Drive house fire was called in about 2.50am.
Four fire appliances attended, two from Gore and two from Mataura.
Invercargill chief fire safety investigator Murray Milne-Maresca said the house was empty and nobody was living inside the house.
"It is the second fire we have been to in this case. It is suspicious and the investigation is continuing.
"The police and ourselves will continue that investigation," Mr Milne-Maresca said.
The previous house fire occurred in September.
Mr Milne-Maresca confirmed no-one was injured during this morning's blaze.
"It was contained to the house. The Gore Fire Brigade responded very quickly and got the fire under control and stopped it from spreading to any fences, hedges and neighbours. They have done an extremely good job," Mr Milne-Maresca said.
