Fallen trees in multiple locations on State Highway 94, between Knobs Flat and Milford Sound, have forced the temporary closure of the Milford Road this morning (11 Jan).
NZTA said they expect the route to be clear again by 10am.
Meanwhile caution is also advised outside Te Anau, near SH94 Whitestone Bridge, due to low hanging powerlines.
Fiordland, which is currently under an Orange heavy rain warning, was buffeted by high winds and a lightning storm overnight.
