Due to crash at the Lorneville overbridge SH99 was closed this morning (9th Aug).
However this has now been resolved, with a 30km/h restriction currently in place.
Meanwhile winter weather including snow and ice continue to make driving conditions challenging on Southland state highways.
Extreme caution is recommended when driving, particularly on:
- SH93 (Old Coach Road from Mataura to Clinton), snow the full length of SH93 but driveable
- SH94 from Mossburn to Te Anau, snow and ice - Gorge Hill is quite slippery but driveable
- SH96 Wrey's Bush to Ohai - light snow and ice in this area
- SH99 due to ice, particularly on Oreti bridge, and black ice between Wallacetown and Lorneville
