Fire and Emergency crews remain at the scene of today's (22 March) ammonia leak at Crowe Road, Lorneville.
As at 6.30pm the gas leak had been isolated and crews were proceeding to now purge the pipes and dispersing the gas.
Four Fire and Emergency crews from Invercargill, including a command unit, and volunteer crews from both Wallacetown and Thornbury responded at 12.06pm today to the ammonia leak at the Lorneville address.
The emergency had resulted in District Manager Julian Tohiariki directing residents in the immediate area to stay inside and keep all windows and doors closed. This precaution was however lifted by 7pm.
