A section of State Highway 96 near Springhills has re-opened this evening after a truck rolled earlier this morning. 

State Highway 96 near the intersection of Chisholm Road was closed in both directions for much of the day after a truck rolled over around 11.25am.

There is a 30km/h speed restriction in place. Caution is advised along this route.

Fire and Emergency spokesman said three fire trucks had been in attendance, helping to free one trapped driver.

St John media spokesman Gerard Campbell said the driver was in a critical condition and was flown to Dunedin Hospital via helicopter.
