UPDATE (3.35pm): Old Coach Road (SH93) is closed between Clinton to Mataura, following a serious car accident near Elliott Road this afternoon. 

Emergency services are attending a serious accident along Old Coach Road (State Highway 93) where a car has rolled over.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) shift manager Andrew Norris said they were notified of the accident at 2.24pm this afternoon.

A single car had rolled over, with two people seriously injured, he said.

No-one had been trapped in the vehicle.

Three fire crews from Gore, Mataura, and Pukerau were in attendance, along with police and ambulance.

A Police media statement says two helicopters have been dispatched from Dunedin.

Drivers are advised to follow the detour in place and allow extra time for travel.
