A train and vehicle collided on West Plains Road at Waikiwi this morning.

A police spokeswoman said police received a report of the accident around 10.15am.

It was not clear how many people were inside the vehicle, however it appeared there were no injuries at this stage, she said.

UPDATE (2pm): The previously closed section of West Plains Road has re-opened.
