Two people have been injured after a firearm was discharged in Gore just before 8pm this evening (17 Dec).

Police said the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A cordon is now in place near Aparima Street.

Police are in attendance and making enquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Members of the public are asked to avoid the area, they said.

Police do not believe there is any risk to other members of the community.
