Truck and car collide during heavy rain

A truck and a car have collided at the intersection of Spey and Leven Streets this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene amid the pouring rain just after 4 pm.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand Station Officer Daniel Middlemiss was on site assisting with the removal of the car, which had become wedged into the left side of the removal truck.

He said it appears that the heavy vehicle truck had been trying to turn left but there had been “a bit of confusion.”

The ambulance was on site, however a police spokesperson said there were no injuries as a result of the crash.

Traffic was delayed for a short time and emergency services worked to remove the two vehicles.
