A major Te Anau hotel is set to reopen next month, 3 years after it was mothballed following the closure of international borders and a nationwide lockdown in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Distinction Hotels Group's (DHG) 112-room Te Anau Hotel & Villas, on the shores of Lake Te Anau, will re-open for stays from 14 August 2023.

The group's sister Te Anau hotel, Distinction Luxmore, however remained open throughout the period.

DHG CEO Duncan Fletcher said that with borders now fully re-opened, an increase in international flight schedules and a pent up demand from visitors the time was right to re-open the second Te Anau hotel.

"The Luxmore team have done an outstanding job over the past 3 years, comfortably accommodating all those travellers wishing to experience this special piece of NZ paradise."

"We are actively recruiting to ensure that we continue to deliver our distinctively high level of service across our two Te Anau hotels this Summer," Fletcher said.
